Who We Are

The Williamson Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and proceeds benefit the museum's educational programing. The  Museum offers free and exciting hands-on educational programs to the public through innovative exhibits, tours and outreach.  We also host the following annual events: "Chisholm Trail Days" at San Gabriel Park and "Pioneer Day" at Old Settlers Park.

July 24-25, 31, August 1, 7-8, 14-15, 21-22, 28-29- FREE Courthouse Tours

Meet at the Museum and get set up with some of our wonderful tour guides and take a trip back in time as you tour our historic County Courthouse. Tours start at 1:30, 2:30 & 3:30pm on Friday and Saturday. Tours are free, last about 45 minutes and are handicapped accessible. Please call ahead if you have a party of 7 or more, or to schedule a private tour 512-943-1670.

 
June 1- July 31- Celebrating 150 Years of Emancipation
This year marks the 150th anniversary of the reading of the Emancipation Proclamation in Galveston, which began the celebration of Juneteenth across Texas. Explore the last century and a half of African-American life in Williamson County. 
July 20-24 & 27-31- Summer History Explorers Camp: Rally the Troops!

August 7- First Friday
Come out for First Friday on the Square from 6pm to 8pm! The Museum will have light refreshments and Music on the Square will begin at 6:30pm. 
August 8- Hands on History
Come to the Williamson Museum on August 8th  from 10am to 2pm to learn about local suffragette and Civil Rights Activist Jessie Daniel Ames. Children will make suffragette pendants. 
August 12- The Salon at Wildfire
Join us for the Salon at Wildfire at 6:30 pm! Nick Roland will speak on The Bandera Hanging Tree: Murder and Mystery on the Texas Frontier. Seating is limited, so arrive early!
