History Happy Hour!

The year is 1860 and Texas must decide on an important question- will she secede from the Union? Hear brief debates for and against secession, then decide how Williamson County will vote. It will be hosted in the District Courtroom at the Courthouse from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm (come and go). Tickets are $15, ($10 members) – includes period drinks and light appetizers. RSVP appreciated.

Who We Are

The Williamson Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and proceeds benefit the museum's educational programing. The  Museum offers free and exciting hands-on educational programs to the public through innovative exhibits, tours and outreach.  We also host the following annual events: "Chisholm Trail Days" at San Gabriel Park and "Pioneer Day" at Old Settlers Park.

January 23-24, 30-31, February 6-7, 13-14, 20-21, 27-28 - FREE Courthouse Tours

Meet at the Museum and get set up with some of our wonderful tour guides and take a trip back in time as you tour our historic County Courthouse. Tours start at 1:30, 2:30 & 3:30pm on Friday, 1:30 & 3:30 pm on Saturday. Tours are free, last about 45 minutes and are handicapped accessible. Please call ahead if you have a party of 7 or more, or to schedule a private tour 512-943-1670.

 
January 14 - February 7- Looking at Lincoln
Looking at Lincoln: Political Cartoons from the Civil War Era is a temporary exhibit from the Gilder-Lehrman Institute. This exhibition explores the Civil War through political cartoons depicting Abraham Lincoln and his policies. This temporary exhibit will kick off two years of events related to the upcoming exhibit Courage and Contradiction: Civil War Stories of Williamson County which opens at the Museum in April of this year.  
January 30- History Happy Hour

February 6- First Friday
Stop by for the February First Friday between 6 pm and 8 pm for light bites! Don't miss the last day of our Looking at Lincoln: Political Cartoons of the Civil War Era traveling exhibit! 
February 11- Salon at Wildfire
Dr. David Buss will discuss Human Mating Strategies at this month's Salon at Wildfire. The talk starts at 6:30 pm, but arrive early as seating is limited. 
February 14- Hands on History
Make your own vintage valentine at this month's Hands on History! This is a free, come and go event from 10 am to 2 pm.
